Focusing on world-building and storytelling, the participants in this workshop are introduced to a brand new web-based VR editing tool with zero programming and minimum tech difficulties. Participants will be building components of their imaginary world with a selection of 2D and 3D digital asset creation tools such as Tilt Brush, BLOCKS, 360 cameras, and 3D scanners sponsored by the XR center. This is a powerful and extremely rewarding VR content pipeline for non-technical creatives. Let’s make VR already!

Hosted by the XReality Center the VR Workshop will be facilitated by Kyle Li, Assistant Professor of Communication Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design.

Kyle Li is an active interaction designer based in New York City. His body of work and research wraps around meaningful and immersive play experiences manifested by interconnected physical and digital components. He helped build the world’s first public school that was entirely redesigned with game design and media learning theories in mind. He won the Best in Class: Innovation award and People’s Choice award from HASTAC and the White House for his game-based learning design. During his directorship at Parsons School of Design, he helped push forward new curricula for designers and artists of today including the first game design pathway at Parsons, a user-centered creative technology pathway, and a minor study on storytelling in VR/AR/MR.
